Our PhD program in Health Services Research and Policy started in 1994. Since then, through coursework and research practice, we have focused on developing rigorous science-based reasoning skills, training students to identify significant healthcare problems and to create corresponding theory-based explanations and consequent policy interventions. Through the course of study in the program, our students publish their research on access, quality, and cost-effectiveness of health care services to inform policy and practice. They regularly present posters and podium presentations at major conferences. Our alumni have gone on to jobs such as faculty positions at Duke, Yale, Brown, other universities around the US, RAND, other think tanks and consulting firms, and government positions such as in the Department of Health and Human Services.
