What We Offer

Summary

While concentrating on the history of one nation or geographic area, our students are encouraged to develop a comparative or global perspective in their work and may work in thematic areas such as the history of science, medicine and technology; global history; imperialism; and women, gender and sexuality. We cooperate closely with a host of interdisciplinary programs and departments to offer students additional instruction in comparative and world history perspectives.

Who We're Looking For

Summary

We publish two journals (Binghamton Journal of History and the Journal of Women’s History) to which students are encouraged to contribute, and our distinguished faculty have published extensively in a book and journals relating to a wide cross-section of time periods. In addition to expertise on times, places, and cultures, we also encourage the study of concepts throughout time, such as the history of medicine, nationalism, and more. The Graduate School of Binghamton University centralizes the admissions process and collects all applications and materials. Prospective students can request to be added to the Graduate School's email/mail list (to which departments have access) by completing the Prospective Student Information Form.
