Ranked in the top third nationally along with UCLA by Academics Analytics, Binghamton’s Materials Science and Engineering program is highly interdisciplinary, bringing together faculty from departments including chemistry, geological sciences and environmental studies, mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering. Who We're Looking For

Summary

Students develop a solid foundation of knowledge in the principles of materials science, through either an atomic/nano or a bulk/macro approach. Students choose a specialization in one of the following areas:
◾Energy production
◾Storage and transmission
◾Nanomaterials
◾Electronic materials
◾Biomaterials
◾Modeling and mechanical behavior MS Applicants: An undergraduate major in engineering is desirable for admission.

PhD Applicants: An MS in engineering is expected, but a degree in another field does not preclude admission.
