Our students use the tools of the humanities and social sciences to study fundamental problems and questions in education with an eye toward more equitable social arrangements and democratic ways of being. Through coursework, independent study and supervised research or scholarship, students learn the principles and skills of responsible inquiry, evaluation and assessment; pedagogically and morally sound educational policy; and culturally responsive, resilient and effective educational practice.

Our program consists of two options..Language Culture and
Education...these students typically are working with English Language Learners, at all levels, K-12 thru adults. Professional Studies...these students are looking to advance there knowledge about the educational process, from policy, diversity, instruction, to evaluation. Students in this option work in all levels...K-12, post-secondary and the public sector. Our students study the Foundations of Education; they use the tools of the humanities and social sciences to study fundamental problems and questions in education with an eye toward more equitable social arrangements and democratic ways of being. They analyze critically educational policies and practices, including curriculum choices, teaching methods, assessment measures and uses, and funding options at local, state, and national levels.
