The Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics, Special Master’s Program is the nation’s leading program tailored to college graduates who wish to strengthen their credentials for application to U.S. medical schools. The Program engages students in an academically rigorous schedule including six medical school courses taken with first-year Georgetown medical students so the performance of the SMP students can be directly compared to the performance of the Georgetown medical class.

Competitive applicants to the Special Master’s Program will have completed all of the prerequisites for US medical schools, including two semesters each of biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and one year of biochemistry with an upward trend by their junior and senior years.
Volunteer work in clinical and community settings is preferred.
The SMP requires an MCAT or GRE score. MCAT is preferred. A competitive applicant has an MCAT of 506+ or a GRE in the 75% or above. (Average MCAT of matriculating class is a 510.)
