What We Offer

Summary

The Exercise Physiology doctoral program requires the completion of 86 graduate credits. Graduates of this program are expected to have a comprehensive grasp of Exercise Physiology primarily designed to prepare them to teach a broad range of Exercise Science related courses at the College level. However, in addition to a common core, students have the flexibility to focus on specific areas of the field depending upon their interest. The program is an applied program. The available options include Sports Physiology and Clinical Exercise Physiology as examples.

Students are required to be engaged in professional activities including publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at both regional and national conferences prior to graduation. Dissertations are developed in consultation with knowledgeable faculty sponsors and are expected to yield publishable results.

In addition to required courses in the specialization, you’ll take courses in pedagogical content knowledge and issues in higher education, which are designed to prepare you for entry to a higher education teaching career. You’ll graduate with a deep understanding of the field, as well as how to navigate being a professional in higher education.
